Overarching ResponsibilitiesAccountable for performing day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician.Responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, and for supervising pharmacy technicians and cashiers within company policy, laws, and regulations.Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Leads training, coaching, and performance management, including discipline and termination decisions.Customer ExperienceEngages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance; resolves complaints and answers non‑clinical questions to ensure a positive experience.Builds strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services to enhance the overall pharmacy experience.OperationsAssists pharmacist with patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification (where allowed by law). Completes patient and physician calls and assists with healthcare services such as vaccines and health screenings under pharmacist supervision.Delegates and assigns non‑clinical work, ensuring tasks are completed on time and workflow remains efficient.Prepares, files, and maintains reports and records required by the company and government agencies.Manages core pharmacy workflow, coordinates schedule, maintains cleanliness, and is stocked with supplies.Administers inventory preparation and ensures compliance with all business administrative activities that do not require pharmacist licensure.Handles non‑clinical patient calls and drives technology/process roll‑outs, ensuring equipment operation and maintenance.Adheres to Wal‑green Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing and to company asset‑protection.Communicates prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and follows company policies on pharmacy errors and quality improvement.Processes insurance claims, follows up with insurers, and participates in third‑party audits.Supports pharmacy financial analysis and operational quality improvements.Manages Community Outreach Portal, coordinates immunization clinics, and maintains retail partnership relationships.People & Performance ManagementLeads performance management of technicians, makes discipline decisions, and holds technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness.Handles hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of technicians.Identifies knowledge gaps and supports training through hands‑on sessions or learning modules.Monitors licensure, registration, and certification status, using Walgreens resources such as the Online Verification System.Ensures proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per company policy and legal requirements.Training & Personal DevelopmentMaintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification or registration.Enhances knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.Obtains necessary certifications, education credits, and training modules such as LTMP e‑modules as required.Pursues professional development, seeks constructive feedback, and leverages a supervisor as mentor and coach.CommunicationCommunicates with pharmacy team, relaying messages from support centers and key emails.Participates in key store/pharmacy meetings, including daily briefings and weekly check‑ins with the Store Manager.Basic QualificationsHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).One year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in certain locations).Preferred QualificationsPrevious people management or leadership experience.Prior work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation performance evaluation.We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.This information is being provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities at Walgreens.
