Vice President of Retail Sales

Job Description:

  • Lead the US retail sales team, driving strategic growth by aligning key customers and internal stakeholders
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales directors and their teams in achieving sustained sales growth, implementing innovative sales strategies and tactics to meet growth goals and drive success
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with key decision-makers within retailers and develop action plans to strengthen customer relationships
  • Develop and execute a three-year strategic roadmap with key customers, incorporating financial objectives and shared strategic plan
  • Monitor performance of strategic plans and evaluate successes, risks, and opportunities; formulate plans to improve KPIs
  • Utilize learned expertise to work through ambiguous situations, take ownership of business results, gather and analyze information, develop alternative solutions, and work effectively across departments to solve issues
  • Partner closely with the Commercial Planning Team to drive revenue growth management, sales strategy, and quantitative selling
  • Collaborate with marketing, finance, commercial planning, and supply chain leadership to ensure seamless execution and alignment of business goals
  • Drive company demand signal through IBP process
  • Coach, mentor, and lead five direct reports
  • Team consists of category management team of six, a team of two on consumer insights, and sales force of 30

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years proven success in building, training, and developing a successful team of sales leaders in the food industry
  • Extensive experience in the CPG food/perishable industry required; meat sector experience a big plus
  • Must have substantial experience and expertise with Walmart; additional experience with Kroger, Albertson’s or similar retailers strongly preferred
  • Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Customer Segmentation, and Pricing Strategy Implementation experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to use data to drive business decisions; a strong understanding of promo/trade spend performance, margin management, P&L management
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills and an excellent developer of people
  • Excellent presentation, verbal/written communication skills
