Bioinformatics Analyst Location: Boston, MA (Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute) Join Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute – a leader in cancer research and patient care – in conquering cancer and related diseases. Responsibilities Interpret complex biological information, performing tasks to reduce and consolidate output from software. Prepare data for utilization by other scientists. Monitor new data from public databases, find and load missed data, clean it to satisfy quality control criteria. Query various sources for required information (Web, publications, internal DFCI resources). Direct and guide DNA, RNA, and protein sequence database searches and computational analysis of resulting data. Implement end‑user needs in database searching and integration. Maintain computational infrastructure and control flow of samples and information for large‑scale studies. Recognize and report problems with the data management process and fix them whenever possible. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, MS preferred or PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, or life sciences with 0–2 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with simple programming in Perl/Python or Java, C/C++, statistical programming in R, web development and database querying using SQL. Familiarity with principles of experimental design and modern data analysis paradigms is required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts. Excellent analytical, organizational and time‑management skills.
