Product Engineer – Cutting & Abrasive Technologies

Our client, a leader in the cutting and abrasive technology sector, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Product Engineer (PE) to join their team. The PE will be an integral part of the new product development process, collaborating with the Sourcing, Program Management, and Sales teams to bring innovative products to market. This role specifically requires experience in product development for cutting and abrasive technologies, with a focus on driving projects from initial concept through to commercialization.

The PE will be responsible for identifying product opportunities, collecting detailed specifications, and coordinating the Request for Quote (RFQ) process. Once the quotes are in, the PE will analyze the financial viability of projects and, if approved, will partner with Program Managers to map out timelines and deliverables. Additionally, the PE will be tasked with managing all product information through the company’s internal project management tool (Wrike). This position requires both creativity and deep technical knowledge, as well as the ability to think strategically.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the research, design, and testing processes for developing and improving abrasive products
  • Conduct rigorous product evaluations to ensure top-tier quality and functionality
  • Gain a deep understanding of how products are used by end users in the market and apply this insight to product design
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot production challenges, delays, and other unforeseen issues
  • Provide leadership and direction for product development projects
  • Define and maintain timelines for new product initiatives
  • Offer technical expertise and product training to internal teams
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for new products
  • Ensure smooth and transparent communication with stakeholders to guarantee project milestones are met
  • Design and implement product functionality tests and create quality standards
  • Collaborate with external vendors to conceptualize and develop necessary tooling
  • Work alongside the sales and program management teams to create marketing strategies and packaging designs
  • Resolve product-related issues and assist the customer service team in supporting clients

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Experience in product development and project management, particularly within cutting and abrasive technologies
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, CAD, and other industry-specific software
  • Excellent analytical abilities and critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for negotiation
  • Leadership abilities, including experience in guiding and mentoring teams
  • Superior organizational and multitasking capabilities
  • Problem-solving expertise, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cutting and abrasive technology products. If you’re a creative problem-solver with the ability to manage complex projects and deliver results, we encourage you to apply for this role.
