Position Overview:


The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of irrigation systems, with a focus on valves, laterals, controllers, and related components. The technician will travel to various job sites within Santa Clara County using company-provided vehicles and will solely focus on irrigation tasks, ensuring systems are running efficiently to conserve water and promote healthy landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Irrigation System Maintenance & Repair:

    • Diagnose and repair issues with irrigation systems, including malfunctioning valves, lateral lines, sprinklers, and pumps.
    • Perform routine maintenance on irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance and water efficiency.
  • Controller Programming:

    • Program, troubleshoot, and adjust irrigation controllers to meet landscape needs and water management goals.
    • Ensure controllers are set to operate efficiently according to seasonal requirements and client preferences.
  • System Installation & Upgrades:

    • Assist with the installation of new irrigation systems or upgrades to existing systems, including retrofitting with smart irrigation technology.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to increase water conservation and reduce costs for clients.
  • Water Efficiency & Troubleshooting:

    • Conduct site inspections to ensure proper coverage and identify areas of over-watering, under-watering, or leaks.
    • Make recommendations for improvements to enhance water efficiency, reduce waste, and promote landscape health.

Qualifications:


  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in irrigation system repair, installation, and maintenance, specifically with landscape irrigation systems.
    • Strong understanding of different types of irrigation systems, components, and smart controllers.
  • Skills:

    • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing valves, lateral lines, and sprinkler heads.
    • Ability to program and troubleshoot irrigation controllers, including smart and traditional systems.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in system troubleshooting.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to cover multiple job sites.
  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) or similar certification (preferred, but not required).
    • Valid California Drivers License with a clean driving record.
  • Other Requirements:

    • Must be a resident of Santa Clara County for local availability.
    • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
