Our team of 185 staff members, from Front-Line to Leadership, drive the mission of Channing House, providing services to the 265 highly engaged residents who call Channing House their home.POSITION SUMMARYThe Renovations Technician performs skilled work to renovate resident apartments and various buildings of Channing House. Together with the entire team at Channing House, your role contributes to promoting a healthy and vibrant home for our residents. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities: General Responsibilities:Perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, swimming pool maintenance, facilities and safety inspectionsPerform a variety skilled tasks including the operation of power tools used in building improvements and maintenance of equipment.Building construction, electrical and plumbing work for the facility Installation of carpet and/or flooring and painting as neededAdheres to schedule to perform routine maintenance of all equipment within the facility and maintains associated records through the work order systemRequests and acquires needed materials for projectsOversee outside vendors and provides assistance when neededWork with Facilities Manager to keep shop well organized and inventoried Provide excellent customer service to residentsAssists with resident emergency situations that may require personal protective equipment for entry into an environment where contagious pathogens exist Assist and supports all policies, goals and objectives of the Facilities Department Respond to emergency service calls and makes repairs or communicates to Facilities Manager to call out a repair vendorInspect Channing House facilities and equipment to determine their proper utilization and maintenance Ensure adherence and compliance with safety laws and regulations and inspects tools and equipment for condition and proper use.Assists as a back-up driver during evenings and weekends in urgent situations, ensuring transportation needs are met promptly.Upholding Company Standards:Consistent commitment to:Establish and maintain effective team relationships with fellow staff; apply effective communication and listening skillsDemonstrate professionalism in all interactions with all residents, colleagues, clients, vendors, and members of the publicProvide a supportive and caring environment to meet the needs of residents as individuals and as members of a shared communityAdhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and compliance practices, and business ethics codesJOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.Years of Related Professional Experience: 5 years of related work experience. Required Licenses/ Certifications/ Background:Journeymen level positionBackground in fire/life safety, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems desired. Work Environment: Generally in an indoor setting. Supervise activities and events outdoors. May be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.Position requires ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
