**Job Description:**

The Automation Micro-Electronics Assembler 1C will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Test and Inspection on existing and new products in a clean room environment. This position requires the knowledge and experience of operating semi-automatic or automatic equipment to manufacture micro-assembly products. The candidate must have steady hands for handling ultra- miniature materials, which may only be visible through microscopes. The position requires a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience. The candidate will have daily assembly responsibilities with limited supervision. The candidate will work on assignments requiring judgment and initiative and will need to use of knowledge and experience to resolve issues.

Essential Functions:

* Operate semi-automatic, or automatic equipment to assemble hybrid electronic using one or more of the following processes: substrate attach, die attach, gap weld, wire bond

* Set up and run pick and place machines

* Ability to handle computers to fine tune machine programs

* Handle fine pitched micro-electronics components such as dies, air-bridge dies, capacitors, resistors, substrates, hybrids

* Ability to hand apply epoxy on densely populated substrate pads without disturbing epoxy on neighboring pads

* Ability to manually place components on substrates without disturbing neighboring wet assemblies

* Use good judgment and decision-making skills.

* Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment at all times.

* Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering to determine root cause of failures and identify potential rework or repair opportunities.

* May act as a mentor to lower level peers and provide guidance on tasks.

* Maintain high ethical standards.

* Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements and business needs.

* Works to achieve operational targets within job area, which has impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.

* Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience or 2-year post-secondary/Associate degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience.

* Hands on experience and understanding of micro-electronics product assembly processes, techniques, and tools such as die/substrate attach, gold ball bonding, wedge bonding, gap & laser welding.

* Previous experience in optoelectronic / microelectronic / hybrid / semiconductor assembly is needed.

* This position requires steady hands for handling ultra-miniature materials, which may only be visible through microscopes.

* Must have the ability to work with intricate parts that require a high attention to detail.

* Must be able to sit for extended periods.

Preferred Additional Skills:

* Experience with new build and repair is a plus.

* The employee will receive on the job training as needed, but must be comfortable and experienced to work independently
