Food Coordinator

Family Table is New England's largest kosher food pantry, serving individuals and families in need on a monthly basis. The Food Coordinator position is an integral part of the Family Table team, managing all aspects of the food inventory in order to ensure an adequate, safe and nutritional food supply, and kosher compliance at pantries in Waltham, Marblehead, and Canton. This job involves significant interaction with volunteers and with clients who visit our pantry. Strong interpersonal skills are required. This is a 30 hour per week position and includes two Sundays per month and periodic travel to Marblehead and Canton.
Essential Job Functions:
Work with retail, wholesale and food bank vendors to place orders based on established budget.
Manage logistics of incoming food from vendors.
Work with Distribution Assistant(s) to sort and stock incoming food, ensuring attention to dating and proper inventory flow.
Oversee the activities of volunteers engaged in pantry-related activities, such as stocking shelves, packing bags, and working at distributions.
Track inventory of pantries at each location.
Manage invoices and maintain records related to food purchases using excel.
Assure that food for all distributions is allocated and transported as needed.
Assure that the food pantries and refrigeration rooms are kept clean and organized.
Participate in Waltham, North Shore, FT South, Marketplace food distributions, as assigned.
Prepare pantries for annual inspections by the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Manage disposition of excess food and compost by working with food rescue organizations.
Participate in regular team meetings, agency events, and trainings.
Other duties as assigned.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
Ability to lift and stack a shipment worth of 30-50 lb. boxes
Strong organizational skills
Ability to drive a mid-size truck
Proficient in Microsoft excel
Strong interpersonal skills and team player
