Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily operations of surgical suites and provide leadership in assigned service line(s). Ensure implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care.

  • Supervise operating room (OR) operations and serve as an expert for the assigned specialty or service line(s).
  • Ensure proper communications occur with the OR and other units.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned service line(s).
  • Oversee processes and procedures to guarantee efficient, effective and safe delivery of health services.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, leadership and staff to develop and implement streamlined operations where equipment, supplies and staff are utilized efficiently and resourcefully.
  • Maintain clinical competency and may serve as a front-line staff member as needed.
  • Provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

One or more of the following required:

  • Certified Registered Nurse specializing in First Assistant credentialed from the National Assistant at Surgery Certification obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Associates who hired/transferred before 04/30/2018 are not required to hold certification.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years
    preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
