**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** 12-Hour Days

**Guaranteed Hours:** 48 per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; Intermediate/Stepdown Level RN experience needed

**License:** Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license

**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:** Epic charting system experience, especially for first-time travelers

**Job Description:**

- Work in a mixed acuity unit including Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg
- Provide care for surgical patients including Urology, prostatectomy, bowel obstruction, mass removal, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and general abdominal surgeries
- Care for ortho patients including Total joints (knees/hips/shoulders), Ortho Trauma, External fixation, soft tissue injury, and minor fractures
- Manage neuro/spine cases including CVA/TIA with Neuro Vascular Intervention, seizures, epilepsy, brain tumors, hematomas, and spinal surgeries like laminectomies, fusions, and discectomies
- Handle general medical conditions such as cellulitis, influenza, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal and hepatic failure, rib fractures, gastrointestinal disorders, and infections
- Conduct wound care and wound debridement for telemetry monitored patients
- Responsible for reading/interpreting cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care, NGT tube placement, and management
- Manage lines such as PICC, Midline, CVL, and PIV; handle wound vacs and wound dressing changes
- Administer medications including TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions and manage urinary and fecal collection devices
- Conduct drip titration for medications including Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Levophed
- Work within a pod structure with 8 patients per pod supported by 2 RNs and 1 Nurse Aide
- Access support from Charge nurses, Flex Nurses, Phlebotomy, RT, and Hospitalist available for assistance
- May float to any Adult Inpatient Units within scope and participate in rotation with other travelers
- Attend 2 days of orientation including policies and protocols, plus 2 orientation shifts working with a preceptor
- Be prepared for weekend rotations and potential requests for working every weekend (WOW), with no mandatory call time
