TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Specialty: Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years in general nursing preferred; open to first-time travelers with 2 years of experience License: Registered Nurse (RN) license must be valid Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - PCU level RN experience - Experience with cardiac procedural recovery (CABG/TAVR/post-cardiac cath) - Knowledge of MI pharmacology and titratable cardiac/vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levo, Dopamine) - Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and chest tube management - TNK administration experience is preferred Job Description: - Mixed acuity unit managing Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients - Direct admits, including ED and post-procedure patients - Manage patients with MI, NSTEMI, STEMI (IABP patients transferred to ICU), CHF, dysrhythmia, pacemaker malfunction, and epicardial pacers - Provide backup for Stroke Unit and medical overflow - Step-down level experience with post-cardiac/vascular and post-operative cardiac patients - Handle patients from post-cardiac cath, post-open heart surgery, post-TAVR, post-EP studies, and post-pacemaker insertion - Patient Ratios typically 1:4, can be 1:3 depending on acuity - Support from CNA, charge nurse, phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalist available 24/7 - Utilize Epic for charting - Willingness to float to sister units or within scope of practice as needed - Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as required This opportunity includes the chance for up to 7 days off if extending, with limitations on time off during early August.
