Department Summary

The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban planning. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE) and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.

HPS students are trained to lead nonprofits, become educators, researchers and professionals who strengthen the diverse communities we serve with thoughtful, inclusive and equitable practices as audiologists, behavior analysts, city managers, emergency managers, health care administrators, public safety administrators, public health specialists, rehabilitation counselors, speech language pathologists, social workers, urban planners and more.

The Department of Social Work houses fully accredited MSW and BSW degree programs. We develop generalist social work practitioners who will advance equity and optimize quality-of-life outcomes in diverse communities worldwide by helping people overcome the challenges associated with abuse, poverty, homelessness, addiction, disability, illness and discrimination. Graduates practice in a variety of areas including integrated healthcare settings, hospice, substance abuse treatment, mental health, child welfare, aging, criminal justice, veterans, military and first responders, and more.

The department is seeking a grant-funded Community Health Workers (CHW)

Consultant.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for the following during the course of the Human Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Community Health Workers (CHW) Training grant:

* Review of CHW curriculum to tailor content for CHW education and field work.
* Recruitment of potential partners and apprenticeship sites.
* Consultation on CHW Training Center application.
* Guidance on CHW Training Center administration.
* Consultation on CHW program development.
* Consultation on evaluation of the CHW component of the project.
* Coordination with DSHS CHW Program Office.
* Assistance with participant recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications

MSW and at least 3 years relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Thorough knowledge of Community Health Workers curriculum and field work requirements.
* Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of demographics orally and in writing.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications
