Job Description

Alabama State University, Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position, Coordinator of Athletics Communications. This position supports the Associate AD for Communications and Associate AD for Creative Content in leading a successful multimedia department covering 18 NCAA Division I athletics programs. Excellence in each area will be attained through building relationships with local media, accurate statistical compilation and record keeping, social media expertise and promotion of all athletic department activities, game recaps, press releases, and special features.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Statistical Compilation and Record Keeping:

Assist with the generation compilation, distribution, and maintain game statistics for assigned teams. Maintain historical records and photos for all assigned teams. Responsible for distributing and posting statistics to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and the institutional athletic website.
* Written Media Coverage:

Assist with producing and distributing all game recaps, press releases, and special features, including distribution to the institutional athletic website, social media channels, local media, and conference office.
* Student-Athlete Recognition:

Assist with nomination of student-athletes for assigned sports for various weekly and annual awards.
* Brand Promotion:

Assist the Assistant AD for Communications and Associate AD for Creative Content in elevating the profile of Alabama State Athletics the athletic department to internal and external audiences. Participate in department and university-sponsored events and initiatives. The Athletics Communications Assistant will also be integral in organizing and planning special events such as luncheons, banquets, the Hall of Fame, Stinger Awards etc. etc.
* Content Creation:

Assist in the design and implementation of creative content materials, including, but not limited to, print materials, digital graphics, video content, splash pages, schedule posters, media guides, and game programs.
* Schedule Staffing:

Responsible for scheduling student employees for all home athletic events under the direction of the Assistant AD for Communications.
* Create and Maintain an Atmosphere of Compliance:

Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the NCAA, the SWAC, and the Alabama State University Athletic Department. Immediately advise the Alabama State University Deputy Director of Compliance if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
* Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree, one years of professional experience in athletic communications, knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, X, Facebook, and TikTok excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud software such as Photoshop, Light room, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects, knowledge of video production, podcast and production truck, and enthusiasm for sports and the teams or organizations that they work to promote required. Knowledge of NCAA Live Stats and Stat Crew software and Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products are preferred. Related experience will be considered in lieu of professional experience requirements. Work will require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Some local, regional, and/or national travel may be required.
