Position Summary

The purpose and mission of the Office of Public Health and Safety works to address root causes of crime and reduce violence in Indianapolis neighborhoods. The office convenes public safety and public health agencies along with community partners to execute focused policy efforts in the areas of food security, reentry, homelessness, behavioral health, and community violence reduction. The office acts as the coordinating agency for Mayor Joe Hogsett's violent crime reduction strategies and comprehensive criminal justice reform efforts. The agency is able to do this by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the constituents of Indianapolis and Marion County.

This position is responsible for overseeing projects in the behavioral health section of the Office of Public Health and Safety and effectively providing assistance to Project Managers and clinical supervisors in general activities related to behavioral health throughout the City of Indianapolis/Marion County. This position is responsible for being the liaison between the Office of Public Health and Safety and the many different entities focused on behavioral health services. The position will work in collaboration with other city departments and outside agencies: Examples include IMPD, IFD, EMS, and community partners in behavioral health. Position Responsibilities

* Provides oversight on all behavioral health projects within the jurisdiction of the Office of Public Health and Safety.
* Develops and design projects related to behavioral health services under the auspice of the Office of Public Health and Safety.
* Provide assistance with planning, interpretation, scheduling, and general behavioral health activities to relative parties.
* Assists in ensuring all design management activity is performed on schedule, within budgetary limits, and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications, and contract requirements.
* Provide insight on all projects to entities including, but not limited to the Mayor's Office, City/County Council, and other governmental bodies.
* Develops, maintains, and reviews outcome measures to ensure that all projects and programs are performing as intended.
* Coordinate with IMPD and all other OPHS divisions to ensure that appropriate behavioral health programs are being utilized appropriately.
* Foster and build relationships with community services, agencies, and neighborhood resources.
* Attend regularly scheduled meetings and training sessions to enhance team performance.
* Maintain confidentiality of records and information in accordance with HIPPA privacy guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Human Service field with 3 years of behavioral health experience required. Proficiency in all aspects of behavioral health services and delivery, including understanding of working with acute mental health populations and individuals having persistent severe mental illness and substance use disorder. Understanding of working with violent/ disruptive client behavior, and clients in acute emotional distress and/or suffering from serious mental illness or addiction. Experience in proving compassionate crisis intervention to under-served and vulnerable populations. Knowledge of growth & development milestones over the life span, and ability to provide age-appropriate care. Understanding of how to navigate political and governmental settings and using appropriate diplomacy. Must possess Cultural competency and an ability to work independently and within a team setting. Strong interpersonal skills/ability to communicate clearly and concisely in verbal and written communication are required. Must have knowledge of local resources and how to link clients with services, Indiana mental health statutes and laws. Proficiency with general office equipment, computer use, and Microsoft Office products is required. Flexibility

to deal with multiple demands and dedication to professional growth and development will also be needed.

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

Master's degree in Behavioral Health Human Service is preferred in addition to the other minimum requirements listed above.
