The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Children's Wisconsin (CW), seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our Pediatric Nephrology Section, at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.
Opportunity highlights
* Join a dedicated and dynamic team comprised of 8 faculty, 3 advanced practice providers, one associate professor of Physiology and Pediatrics, and a multidisciplinary staff.
* Practice opportunity is performing general nephrology clinical service along with the training of medical students, residents, and fellows.
* Seeking a physician with training or clinical emphasis in transplant nephrology. In addition to clinical care responsibilities, the successful candidate will work with transplant program leadership in program administration, quality improvement, national network participation, and research.
About the Section of Pediatric Nephrology
Our subspecialty group is actively engaged in all missions of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children's Wisconsin including clinical care, education, academic scholarship, and community service. We have an ACGME accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship. Our program is supported by a clinical team that includes pediatric nurses, dietitians, a clinical psychologist, renal pharmacists, and a social worker dedicated to patient care in Nephrology and Hypertension, Kidney Transplant, and Dialysis. Children's Wisconsin has an active kidney transplant program supported by a dedicated nurse practitioner and expert program coordinators that care for the child and family throughout the entire transplant journey. We have built key partnerships with other highly skilled medical and surgical providers, including those at Children's Wisconsin, Froedtert and Versiti to enhance the patient experience and provide the best support to the child, their family, and living donor/donor's family before, during and after treatment.
We also have an active in-hospital Dialysis Unit staffed by pediatric nurses that provide both acute and chronic dialysis services. Our clinical research and quality improvement activities include long-standing participation in national collaborative studies, e.g. SCOPE (CHA), NAPRTCS, CKiD, CURE GN, PNRC, ICONIC (neonatal dialysis), WE-ROCK, and the Neonatal Kidney Collaborative, all of which are supported by a dedicated nephrology research coordinator. The Pediatric Nephrology basic science laboratory is focused on the pathophysiologic mechanisms in chronic kidney disease and polycystic kidney disease with a laboratory team working towards new discoveries and solutions in both basic and clinical translational research.

With a history dating back to 1893, the Medical College of Wisconsin is dedicated to leadership and excellence in education, patient care, research, and community engagement. More than 1,400 students are enrolled in MCW's medical school and graduate school programs in Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Central Wisconsin. MCW's School of Pharmacy opened in 2017. A major national research center, MCW is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and second largest in Wisconsin. In the last ten years, faculty received more than $1.5 billion in external support for research, teaching, training, and related purposes. This total includes highly competitive research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Annually, MCW faculty direct or collaborate on more than 3,100 research studies, including clinical trials. Additionally, more than 1,600 physicians provide care in virtually every specialty of medicine for more than 4.0 million patients annually.
Children's Wisconsin is the region's only independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. The hospital, with locations in Milwaukee and Neenah, Wisconsin, is recognized as one of the leading pediatric health care centers in the United States. It is ranked in four specialty areas - including Nephrology- in U.S. News & World Report's 2022-2023 Best Children's Hospitals report. The hospital has a Pediatric Dialysis Unit dedicated solely to the care of pediatric patients with end-stage renal failure. A full range of acute dialysis services are provided in the PICU and NICU areas. The Kidney Transplant program has been active since 1986 and is CMS and UNOS accredited.
Children's provides primary care, specialty care, urgent care, emergency care, community health services, foster and adoption services, child and family counseling, child advocacy services and family resource centers. In 2019, Children's invested more than $130 million in the community to improve the health status of children through medical care, advocacy, education, and pediatric medical research. Children's achieves its mission in part through donations from individuals, corporations and foundations and is proud to be a member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
