Description: Manages classroom and implements appropriate programs, develops Individual Education Programs (IEPs), conducts and participates in team meetings and parent conferences, supervises classroom assistants and volunteers, liaison with juvenile court officers and other children's protection agencies
Purpose Statement
The job of MS Associate Principal - was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for directing assigned programs and services at a middle school school; providing information and serving as a resource to others; supervising assigned staff; coordinating school activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid Ohio license to practice as a Principal.
- A master's degree or higher, from an accredited college or university with specific emphasis in school administration.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills as well as consistent follow through and time management skills.
- Promotes the district's vision and mission. Works to be a team player and creative problem solver.
- Stays up-to-date with current information pertinent to the specific job.
- Maintains a professional appearance in dress, speech and actions. Respects the rights of others and respects the privacy of others, as well as maintaining confidentiality of privileged information.
- Displays outstanding communication skills in oral, written and electronic media.
- Demonstrates long-range and short-term planning skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to create a productive working environment by establishing positive relationships with staff, parents and students.
GENERALRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with all members of the learning community to improve instruction and student achievement.
- Assists, as needed, in meeting with union leadership to help resolve issues, ensure communication between parties, and to collaborate on building issues.
- Assist school counselors with the student course request approval process to ensure students are properly enrolled in courses.
- Assist with daily building operations, student discipline, attendance, and overall student conduct.
- Assist the Building Principal and Coordinator of Academic Achievement to create and revise program of studies and courses of studies.
- Assist with ensuring the validity of academic records of students and staff.
- Works with counseling department to ensure students' needs are addressed relative to social-emotional support, scheduling and academic advising.
- Works with central office and building personnel to ensure successful coordination of state and district assessments.
- Responsible for evaluating certified staff and assists with the evaluation of classified staff.
- Assists in interviewing and hiring staff.
- Per the direction of the building principal, shares responsibilities for the BLT, and TBT with the building principal to ensure fidelity within the process for both administrators and teachers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for all budgets associated with curriculum, instruction, and fees.
- Per the direction of the building principal, assist with the preparation of the master schedule.
- Verifies students completed all graduation requirements.
- Responsible for student recognition (academic) programs.
- Support the implementation of the building principal's vision and mission in the absence of principal.
