La Cheim has been providing a robust continuum of care for nearly 50 years to help children and adults who were previously unreachable. Our nonpublic schools, community mental health center, therapeutic behavioral services program, and residential treatment center offer educational and mental health services throughout Alameda and Contra Costa County.

JOB DESCRIPTION

La Cheim has been serving the community by providing educational and mental health services for almost 50 years. Our services are available throughout Alameda and Contra Costa County at our nonpublic schools, community health center, therapeutic behavioral services program, and residential treatment center.

We are currently seeking Direct Care Staff who can ensure adequate treatment and supervision for our clients in the 24-hour continuum. The Direct Care Staff should be able to comply with Community Care Licensing regulations and support the program through increased communication and continuity of treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The following qualifications are required for the job position:
  • A minimum of 3 years of previous experience in interacting with youth in a collaborative manner, while incorporating Trauma Informed Care Principles.
  • The individual must display a personality that is well-suited for working in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of collaboration and cooperation, and consistently work to promote a positive and productive workplace culture.
  • The capacity to oversee and track communications.
  • Possess a California driver's license that is valid.
  • Clearance of TB Test, Physical Exam, FBI and DOJ checks.

DUTIES
  • Provide general supervision to clients in accordance with the policies of the facility and Trauma Informed Principles
  • Support the needs of the clients in a culturally and linguistically responsible manner
  • Document mental health interventions
  • Provide personalized assistance to clients in preparing for school, ensuring that they maintain optimal personal hygiene, dressed appropriately for school and administer prescribed medications.
  • Check in with the overnight staff, read the shift exchange, and review the incident reports during transitions or shift changes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Sitting - up to 2 hours, not continuously; standing - up to 4 hours, not continuously
  • Walking - up to 2 hours, not continuously; bending over - up to 1 hour, not continuously
  • Exposure to emotionally disturbed students who may be physically and verbally violent and require safe physical management.
