Job Description

TREASURER'S ASSISTANT - ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

An associate degree in accounting/business is preferred, but a high school education or training with experience in accounting will be considered.

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting using State Department of Education software. Other automated financial processing experiences will be considered.

Experience in using electronic spreadsheets and word processing on personal computers.

Skilled in operating general office equipment.

To be self-motivated with an attention to detail, and the ability to work with confidential information.

A customer service attitude with an ability to handle people in difficult situations.

The ability to work cooperatively with others and take instruction.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Treasurer or Treasurer's designee.

JOB GOAL:

To contribute to the effective business operation of the School District through effective and efficient accounting processing.

To accurately answer questions and handle staff inquiries as to accounting-related questions.

To promote an ethical workplace.

TIME SCHEDULE: 7 ½ Hours Per Day - 12 Month Position (260 work days)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for all phases of accounts payable.

2. Custodian and administrator of Petty Cash.

3. Oversee and monitor School District compliance with Board policies and procedures regarding credit cards and all matters related to finance. Review related recommended policy
and procedural updates from the Ohio School Boards Association and provide the Treasurer with related guidance.

4. Monitor outstanding warrants on a monthly basis.

5. Reconcile prepaid purchases and maintain compliance with accounting procedures.

6. Fixed asset accounting and reporting.

7. Provides assistance and cross-training for Accounts Receivable Specialist.

8. Serves as backup for Accounts Receivable for conversion of requisitions to purchase orders.

9. Special reports and analysis as required.

10. Works cooperatively with all employees and outside vendors.

11. Assist the Treasurer with accounting, maintaining, and corresponding regarding scholarship funds.

11. Perform other necessary functions as assigned by the Treasurer.
