Extended Day High School Assistant

Position: Extended Day High School AssistantLocation: Cunniff, Hosmer, and Lowell Elementary Schools in Watertown, MASchedule: Minimum of 3 days/week, 2:15-6:00 PM daily, Preference for 5 days/week, 2:15-6:00 PM. Additional hours on district elementary early release days, 12:00-6:00 PM.Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to one or more groups in preparing materials for activities, setting up/cleaning up activities, and assisting lead instructors as needed.
  • Provide supervision to students ranging in age/grade from Pre-K through grade 5.
  • Must maintain daily attendance records including accurate student counts following name-to-face attendance taking protocols.
  • Appropriate and frequent interaction with students.
  • Proactive modeling of conflict resolution strategies for students.
  • May be required to support at other Extended Day Program site locations based on program needs, staffing, and/or enrollment.
  • The High School Assistant may also be assigned other duties by the Extended Day Site Coordinator and/or Community Education Assistant Director and/or Director.

Professional Commitment:The Extended Day High School Assistant is required to work a minimum of 2 days per week. 3-5 days per week is preferred.

In addition to his/her regularly scheduled hours the Extended Day High School Assistant may be asked to attend the following periodic meetings:

  • Monthly meetings with the Extended Day Site Coordinator, and/or Community Education Assistant Director and/or Director.
  • Attend annual mandatory program orientation and training days.

Qualifications:

  • Active enrollment in high school or an equivalent program is required.
  • 6 months of experience working with children is preferred, not required.

Annual Professional Development Requirement:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Monthly Community Education Meetings
