Contingent Professional-Fire and Rescue Services, Hospital Liaison

Provides coordination between arriving EMS transport units (ALS and BLS) and emergency department staff. The liaison communicates in real-time with EMS leadership issues and concerns impacting the efficiency of patient flow. The liaison advises EMS transport units of hospital wait times, potential patient off-load challenges, and other issues of concern. 

STARTING SALARY HIRING RANGE:

$20.OO - $25.00

Notifies the Supply Unit when EMS equipment or supplies at the emergency department are low.

Explains provisions of the Maryland Medical Protocols to emergency department staff, if there are questions pertaining to patient care or destination decisions.

Provides conditions of the emergency department to field units, medical duty officers, and battalion chiefs regardless of hospital alert status.

Informs EMS leadership of sentinel incidents that may be of a critical nature. 

Attending inter-organization coordination meetings, including heart attack and stroke patients.

Other duties may be assigned.

At least a current Maryland EMT-B certification is required.

A current Maryland EMT-P license is preferred.

Knowledge of Howard County Fire and Rescue's EMS deployment model is preferred.
