Fire Sprinkler Design Manager

Impact Fire Services is seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Design Manager to join our team. As a key member of our fire protection design team, you will be responsible for managing the operations of our sprinkler design department, providing technical support to our engineering team, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project schedules and coordinate with the design team to ensure that projects are permitted and materials are on site in accordance with those schedules.
- Provide coaching and training to design team members as needed.
- Review design drawings and calculations for accuracy and compliance with State and local codes.
- Design and facilitate designs based on customer requirements, taking into account code compliance, coordination with other trades, and feasibility of installation.
- Perform hydraulic calculations to properly size pipe and create details to clarify installation procedures.
- Submit drawings to Authorities Having Jurisdiction, General Contractors, and Engineers as required.
- Survey job sites to verify design viability and make corrections as needed.
- Collaborate with sales team to review project contracts, drawings, and specifications, and gain an understanding of the scope of work, time allotted for design, and any special circumstances that may affect the job.
Requirements:
- NICET level III or higher in Water Based Systems Layout. Contractor's license is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the fire protection design field required, demonstrating a solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with design and fire sprinkler terminology.
- CAD experience required. Experience with HydraCAD or other fire sprinkler related software is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints for fire sprinkler layout and a good understanding of hydraulic calculations.
- Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers.
- Must have a sound working knowledge of NFPA 13 and related codes.
- Valid driver's license and a current and sustainable good driving record.
- The ability to learn applicable installation, inspection, and servicing codes.
- Commercial fire sprinkler systems background and knowledge of pipe fitting, electrical work, and commercial sprinkler system fittings.
