Summary:
Lifespan Rehabilitation Services (LRS) Supv Referral Specialists reports to the LRS Business Manager. Responsible for the overall referral and scheduling process quality and standards including reporting outcome metrics and system improvement. Ensures quality control of the referral process is upheld by reviewing the accuracy and timeliness of referrals through monthly standard reports. Ensures referral specialists job performance. Coordinates oversees and develops effective and efficient processing and scheduling of all incoming referrals adhering to established timelines and departmental procedures. Assists with recruitment hiring orientation and assessment of professional and support staff.
Responsibilities:
Communication
Demonstrates the highest level of communication and professionalism with patients
caregivers rehabilitation staff physicians and other health care professionals both within
the academic medical center and in the community.
Maintaining effective communication with all team members to implement excellent
patient care
Responding promptly positively and respectfully to co-workers patients and families
Displaying open and welcoming attitude toward co-workers patients and families
Modeling effective delivery of feedback and coaching to co-workers in a manner that
ensures accountability maintenance of self-esteem effective positive outcomes and

Recognizing long range impact of all professional communications on hospital systems
and operations
Principal Duties
Performs duties as defined in the referral specialist job description.
Approves and/or makes recommendations regarding vacations and other scheduled time off requests per manager direction
Assists in coordinating the orientation of new staff members
Assigns or re-assigns duties during staff absences to assure complete and uninterrupted delivery of responsibilities
Assists the manager in the preparation of performance appraisals and/or conducts performance appraisals per clinical manager direction
Prepares for and actively participate in staff meetings
Attends scheduled meetings with the department manager and/or director for discussion planning and/or problem-solving
Assists in planning implementing and evaluating department goals and programs
Monitors Workqueues and quality metrics
Ensures effective scheduling capacity
Accountable for scheduling utilization for all LRS outpatient sites
Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field or any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job. Formal education in medical terminology anatomy and other coding related courses.
EXPERIENCE:
Five years of clinical referral experience required and at least one year of related experience in coding/billing and medical record operations in an ambulatory care facility Health Information/Medical Record Department.
Three years of supervision in a related field able to demonstrate maturity focus and insight to provide high level leadership.
