Gateway Rehab has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Counselor Technician in our Greenbriar, Washington, PA Inpatient Center.

The Lead Counselor Technician is responsible for the coordination and execution of the inpatient program treatment schedule. This position assists with the supervision of the inpatient program Counselor Technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Provides feedback/supervision to the Counselor Technicians.
  • Provides on the job orientation to new Counselor Technicians.
  • Assists the Clinical Manager in the development of the inpatient Counselor Technicians work schedule.
  • Assists the Clinical Manager in preparing performance evaluations for the Counselor Technicians.
  • Coordinates with inpatient staff and maintenance department regarding physical appearance of the unit.
  • Assists the Clinical Manager in preparation of Counselor Technicians annual training plans and ensures that training requirements are received.
  • Assists the Activities Therapist with life-skills education for patients.
  • Coordinates and executes patient treatment schedule.
  • Conducts orientation with patients.
  • Intervenes in crises with patients.
  • Communicates information to the treatment team.
  • Transports patients to AA and NA meetings and elsewhere as needed.
  • Monitors patient treatment assignments.
  • Facilitates patient activities.
  • Monitors patients' phone calls to families.
  • Attends mandatory GRC trainings and in-services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of 12 step programs and/or addictions preferred.
  • Must have ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others; integrity, resourcefulness, initiative, and show respect for patients and co-worker.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • If recovering from a substance dependence, recommend 18 months of continuous sobriety and involvement in support systems designed to preserve recovery.

Preferred Requirements
  • Some college.
  • Supervisory experience.

Additional Requirements
  • A valid driver's license and favorable driving record required.
  • Pass PA Criminal Background Check.
  • Obtain PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
  • Pass Drug Screen
  • TB Test
  • Obtain CPR Certification
  • This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.
  • Required to remain awake and alert to patient activities while on duty.
  • Must have at least 18 months in recovery from substance dependence.
