Administrative Clerk, Part-Time, Tax Assessor Collector

Description

This position is responsible for providing clerical support for department operations.

Examples of Duties

* Processes and distributes incoming mail.
* Delivers mail to Post Office.
* Verifies taxpayer motor vehicle insurance.
* Types, files, sorts, faxes, copies, and prints documents.
* Monitors lobby and directs taxpayers to available tellers.
* Keeps computerized records of handicap plate and placard applications.
* Receives and signs for merchandise ordered.
* Assists customers in replacing vehicle registration stickers and license plates.
* Assists with the printing of tax statements.
* Assists with stamping and mailing tax statements.
* Assists with inventory control.
* Assists in hauling, sorting and stacking boxes.
* Retrieves old documents for research purposes.
* Shreds documents as appropriate.
* Sorts license plate inventory.
* Serves as Passport Agent as needed.
* Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
* Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of work experience in a related field.
* Must be able to type at least 30 wpm (words per minute).

* Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
* Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
* Skill in the use of standard office equipment.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
* Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

Valid Texas Driver License*

* If applicant holds an out-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained prior to employment.
