Nature of Work

The West Virginia Veterans Home, a welcoming residence dedicated to serving veterans discharged under honorable conditions, is seeking a compassionate and skilled LPN to join our team. Our residents are ambulatory and independent in all activities of daily living. So that means residents come to you and no heavy lifting.

Responsibilities:

* Patient Care:Take and give reports, count narcotics, and assist with self-medication programs.
* Documentation:Accurately document changes in residents' status or behavior, vital signs, and FBS (fingerstick blood sugars).
* Emergency Preparedness:Assist in evacuations during fire alarms.
* Collaboration:Communicate effectively with VAMC physicians, nurses, and pharmacy regarding residents' wellbeing and medications.
* Medication Knowledge:Understand medications, dosages, side effects, and therapeutic effects.
* Wellness Program:Maintain an assigned wellness list and contribute to program evaluation and updates.
* Teamwork:Collaborate effectively with colleagues as part of a cohesive team.
* Additional Duties:Perform other responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Training:Current West Virginia License or temporary permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
