Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals New England. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.

The Specialty Clinic (BS 5) is located at 79 Retreat St. on the fifth floor of the Brownstone building of Hartford Hospital and in the MOB. BS-5 clinic has over 4,500 patient visits annually. There are over 10 different specialty clinics held on various days of the week. Clinics include services from Cardiology, ENT, Breast, Gastro, Urology/Cysto, Trauma, General Surgery, Neurology/Epilepsy, Bloodless Surgery, and Pulmonary. Staffing includes attendings, PA, fellows, residents, RNs, MA, MAA and Data Manager. BS-5 staff guides patients through the health system, including appropriate referrals for services to other health professionals.

Job Summary:

Responsible for full range of administrative support in a medical office setting providing duties from scheduling appointments, calling pharmacies, billing patients and verifying pre-certifications to triaging phone calls from patients, physicians and insurance companies, while maintaining patient and business confidentiality to ensure that the needs of the internal and external customers are met. Reports to assigned supervisor.

Qualifications

* High School Diploma required.
* Bilingual Spanish required
* Medical Administrative Assistant certification preferred.
* One to two years experience in a medical office setting
* Knowledge of medical terminology required.
* Basic keyboarding skills with proficiency in use of personal computer programs.
* Knowledge of medical coding preferred i.e.: CPT and ICD9 coding
* Excellent communication skills.
