Description

This position is responsible for operating a Commercial Semi-truck (Water Tanker) in the maintenance of the water and wastewater systems.

Examples of Duties

* Performs daily check of tires and fluid levels on vehicle and equipment; performs minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
* Operates a Commercial water tank truck to transport water-to-water tanks and/or other facilities as needed.
* Inspects water tanks; connects water hoses and unloads water.
* Maintains required logs.
* Maintain levels in Storage Tanks depending to water demand.
* Responds to after-hours emergencies.
* Perform any other duties as assigned within the department's need.

Qualifications

* Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
* At least one ( 1 ) year of driving experience.
* Must possess a valid and current Commercial Class A driver's license with a Tank Vehicle Endorsement for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Other Information

* Requirement to attain a Class D Water license within six* (6) months of employment.
* Note: Six (6) month time frame begins on first official date of employment with the Water Utilities department.

* Knowledge of water tank truck operations.
* Skill in operating assigned trucks and equipment.
* Skill in establishing safe work zones.
* Skill in the maintenance and repair of a variety of tools and equipment.
* Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

Valid Texas Driver License

If applicant holds an out-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained prior to employment.
