Job Summary

This position is responsible for operating a Commercial Semi-truck (Water Tanker) in the maintenance of the water and wastewater systems for Webb County, TX.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily checks of tires and fluid levels on vehicle and equipment, and perform minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Operate a Commercial water tank truck to transport water to water tanks and/or other facilities as needed.
  • Inspect water tanks, connect water hoses, and unload water.
  • Maintain required logs and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain levels in storage tanks based on water demand.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies and provide timely support to the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the department's needs.
Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • At least one (1) year of driving experience.
  • Must possess a valid and current Commercial Class A driver's license with a Tank Vehicle Endorsement for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Additional Requirements
  • Must attain a Class D Water license within six (6) months of employment.
  • Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of departmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of water tank truck operations.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

Driving Experience and Licenses
  • At least one (1) year of driving experience.
  • Valid and current Commercial Class A driver's license with a Tank Vehicle Endorsement.
  • Class D Water license with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
