QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Doctorate in Audiology required (Au.D and /or Ph.D) in Audiology from an accredited college or university;
  2. A current Texas state license in Audiology is required;
  3. Adequate knowledge of all aspects of total communication as well as listening skill development;
  4. Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  5. Knowledge of pediatric evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of hearing disorders and conditions;
  6. Experience in testing children aged 0-5 as well as individuals with multiple disabilities preferred;
  7. Working experience with pediatric hearing aids and cochlear implants;
  8. Three years experience, preferably in an educational setting.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Annual Exempt Contract: 202 Days

SALARY:

$67,660 (IA-3)

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations to assess students with auditory disorders and conditions to determine eligibility for services, evaluate student progress, and determine readiness or termination of educational services.
  2. Conduct evaluations to determine the effectiveness of students' amplification including speech in noise and Functional Listening Evaluations (FLE).
  3. Assist in developing appropriate listening goals in students' Individualized Education Plans.
  4. Participate in the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) process to assist in the interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement recommendations, and goal setting for students with auditory disorders or conditions according to district procedures.
  5. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve the listening skills of students.
  6. Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and understand communication deficits due to the effects of hearing loss on the student's ability to access instruction.
  7. Conduct hearing aid fittings and adjustments when appropriate, and make ear impressions and fit ear molds.
  8. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the students' hearing loss and the effects of hearing loss on communication skills and academic progress.
  9. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of audiology services and make changes based on the findings.
  10. Conduct Assistive Listening Device (ALD) evaluations to determine benefit and proper fit using appropriate verification measures.
  11. Supervise the maintenance and use of assistive listening devices.
  12. Maintain a loaner hearing aid bank and cochlear implant accessories.
  13. Provide onsite hearing aid and cochlear implant repair and coordinate offsite equipment repair.
  14. Work with deaf education staff to implement a comprehensive program that addresses the development of listening skills for all students.
  15. Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials necessary to optimize students' residual hearing.
  16. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents related to students' information, equipment inventory, and audiology expenditures.
  17. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.
  18. Maintain confidentiality.
  19. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
