**Audiologist Job Responsibilities**
- The clinical audiologist is responsible for evaluating hearing in children birth to twenty-one years of age. Should the child have a hearing loss, the audiologist provides individualized care and partners with families to manage their loss for the development of speech, language, communication, and academic success. The Audiology Department collaborates closely with the MWS Listening and Spoken Language Pre-School, as well as the THI Speech Therapy Clinic.
**Skills**
- Provide audiologic services (assessment and management) to a pediatric population
- Complete age-appropriate diagnostic audiological evaluations, including tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing and
otoacoustic emissions
- Complete electrophysiologic testing (Sedated and Non-Sedated ABR)
- Complete hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid fittings, as well as hearing aid troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Knowledge of cochlear implant and bone anchored hearing devices; provide appropriate recommendations
- Working knowledge of speech acoustics as it relates to spoken language development
- Complete Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT) system selection, fitting, and troubleshooting
- Provide education to parents, teachers, and other professionals working with children with hearing impairments
- Participate in the development of evidence-based protocols and guidelines
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation
**Physical Demands**:
Stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear; able to lift 15 pounds; able to endure outdoor temperatures for camp supervision or special events.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- A Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) is required from an accredited college or university.
- Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Audiology and/or** **Board Certification from the American Academy of Audiology
- Texas License
- 3 Years of pediatric audiology experience, preferred
**Travel**:
- Must be able to travel to attend hearing screenings, trainings and/or other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
