Program Director for the Mental Health Counseling Program

The Department of Educational and Psychological Studies in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami seeks outstanding candidates to direct our master's program in Mental Health Counseling. This non-tenure-track clinical faculty position demands a combination of administrative skills, comprehensive knowledge of mental health counseling, and the ability to teach assessment. It also requires the candidate to be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Florida. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of aspiring mental health professionals and contribute to the field's growth. We seek a dynamic and dedicated individual ready to advance our program.

In addition to leading the Mental Health Counseling program, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and advising students across our doctoral, master's and undergraduate programs and providing service to the program, department, and university.

The mission of the master's program in Mental Health Counseling is to provide excellent preparation for research-based, professional practice in counseling through the integration of theory, research, and skills. Consistent with the Mission Statements of the University of Miami and the School of Education and Human Development, our goals are to educate and nurture students, to produce knowledge, to support clinical services to our local communities, and to prepare the next generation of practitioners, leaders, researchers, and agents of change and well-being in the community. Key Responsibilities:

Administration:

- Oversee the daily operations of the Mental Health Counseling Program.

- Coordinate with faculty, staff, and other university departments to ensure programmatic goals are met.

- Develop and manage the program's budget.

- Facilitate program accreditation and ensure all accreditation standards are maintained.

- Represent the program at university meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.

2. Teaching:

- Deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops on assessment and other relevant subjects.

- Mentor and supervise students throughout their academic journey.

- Stay updated with the latest research and developments in mental health counseling and integrate them into the curriculum.

- Evaluate students' performance and provide constructive feedback.

3. Licensure:

- Maintain an active mental health license in Florida or be eligible for licensure.

- Promote ethical standards and professional development among students.

- Advise students on licensure requirements and the licensure process in Florida.

Required Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field. Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Florida. Proven experience in academic administration and program management. Extensive knowledge of mental health counseling theories, practices, and assessment techniques. A track record of teaching at the post-secondary level, with evidence of excellence in instruction. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program and the wider university community.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with program accreditation processes. A strong network within the mental health counseling community.
