Description
Reporting to the Director of Title III, the Assistant Director of Retention is a grant position that is funded through 2028. This position provides oversight and guidance in program planning, coordination, and early monitoring of students to increase student retention. The Assistant Director of Retention will be responsible for developing data driven strategies in support of the campus wide retention plan and in supporting faculty and staff in developing approaches that are appropriate for each department.

The position will be responsible using institutional and national trends to identify student populations which are at higher risk of not persisting and in supporting the development of specific plans to address these challenges. Collaboration with institutional research, student success, faculty and support staff is essential.

Examples of Duties
  1. Partner with the Office of Institutional Research to develop a system to track, analyze and share broadly key indicators on student success and persistence
  2. Serves as lead for the roll out of a new advising case load management platform, anticipated to be Navigate, and provide workshops and professional development for advisors.
  3. Collaborates with Institutional Research to develop metrics for tracking success in all student groups and report out this information
  4. Support the development of the campus wide Retention Plan and ensure that each element of the plan will be assessable.
  5. Monitor and report on the Retention Plan, including elements developed by faculty departments, the Center for Student Success, Student Life and other campus partners
  6. Use institutional data to identify areas in greatest risk across all colleges and departments and use this information to better inform the activities of the Title III grant team and the CSS.
  7. Provide support for the Director of SSAPT in submitting an annual report to the Department of Education.
  8. Develops and shares best practices for retention strategies.


Typical Qualifications
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Masters' degree in an appropriate discipline, such as higher education, student development, data analytics or a related field.

Experience:
Required: Experience in working at an educational institution in a role related to student success and/or student retention.
Preferred: Three years of experience in utilizing data to support student retention.
