Key Responsibilities:

Technical Operations/Maintenance

Technical Operations includes the maintenance, and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager of Predictive Maintenance Engineering (Aircraft Systems) is responsible for developing and implementing innovate predictive alerting and health monitoring solutions for United's aircraft, engines or other capital assets. The Manager will lead a team of experts to dive into technical details on how their asset area of focus (aircraft, engines or other assets) operate, evaluate existing performance data availability and partner with Engineering teams to implement new engineering modifications as required to gather more data to turn unexpected system failures into scheduled maintenance. The Manager will lead a team of analysts in the tactical delivery of new use cases, work with technology and analytics partners to operationalize use cases and actively participate in Predictive Alerting Committees to deliver novel alerts to frontline teams. They will lead the implementation of United's Integrated Aircraft/Fleet Health Monitoring program for their fleet area of focus (aircraft, engines or other assets).

* Handle delivery of health monitoring and predictive maintenance use cases and alerts for their fleet area of focus (aircraft, engines or other assets) and develop solutions to address key reliability and operational issues using asset data
* Incorporate predictive and health monitoring alerts into United's Integrated Aircraft/Fleet Health Monitoring program for their fleet area of focus (aircraft, engines or other assets), including developing use cases for internal predictive alerting committees and participating in industry forums and regulatory working groups
* Collaborate with Data Science and Digital Technology teams to deploy use cases and incorporate new features in predictive maintenance and health monitoring products as required to operationalize alerts
* Provide ongoing reporting of predictive alert performance and effectiveness, incorporate alert performance reporting into United's reliability program and recommend alert retraining or logic updates as required for their fleet area of focus (aircraft, engines or other assets)

NOTE: This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower, located in Chicago, IL. and considered as a hybrid work-schedule working on a 2-3-days in office schedule, however, that may evolve with the needs of the company.

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field experience
* Minimum 3 years experience in a business, engineering or data driven role
* Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership/supervisory role or leading a matrixed project team
* Knowledge and understanding of asset/fleet management strategies and maintenance operations
* Familiarization with predictive maintenance and reliability concepts and implementation
* Proven project management, organization, and thought leadership skills with ability to build, lead, and maintain strong, productive teams and working relationships with internal partners and external customers
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact at all levels (including executive) and team with all internal and external business partners
* Must be willing and able to work a hybrid schedule, in-office at least 2-3 days a week at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL
* Must be willing and able to travel 5-10% of the time domestic
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
* Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
* Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

* Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
* Airline experience or operations experience in a similar industry
* Experience working with aircraft, engine, ground equipment or other asset sensor and fault data
* Familiarity with modern data analytics concepts that include machine learning, statistical programming, data visualization, etc.
