The Business Office at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Staff Accountant position.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education

Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university with major in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum Required Experience

Five (5) years of work experience in Accounting or Finance preferably in a college or university setting.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Strong customer support, computer and organizational skills
* Experience with Banner Computer system a plus.
* Experience with Microsoft Office Suites
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
* Strong math, analytical, and reconciliation skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Detailed-Oriented.
* Able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Multi-tasker
* Must be articulate, have a pleasant personality and able to work well with diverse groups

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Reconcile operating and disbursement bank accounts
* Monitor daily bank activity
* Analyze and reconcile operating and general ledger accounts
* Maintain operating and general ledger accounts
* Assist in Month-End and Fiscal Year-End Close
* Assist with preparation of financial statements and reports
* Prepare financial statement schedules
* Assist with financial audits
* Other duties as assigned
