Minimum Qualifications

* High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* City of Detroit unlimited refrigeration journeyman's license or equivalent journeyman's card through Union Local 636, and proof of six years of continuing job related experience dealing specifically with large heating/ventilation/air conditioning systems.
* In the absence of above credentials, individual may possess a State of Michigan mechanical contractor's license.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of cooling towers, pumps, chilled water coils, centrifugal chillers, absorption chillers, heating systems and their distributions.
* Experience and working knowledge of DDC building controls.
* Preferably experience with Honeywell and Automated Logic building control systems.
* Certified in refrigerant recovery.
* Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of other trades including electrical and plumbing installations and have ability to perform repairs on these systems.
* Ability to interpret building schematics related to large building systems.
* Ability to repair equipment in a professional manner.
* Ability to work without supervision.
* Valid Michigan vehicle operator's license and a driving record acceptable to the university.

Desired Qualifications All Qualifications

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Position Details Position Purpose

The successful candidate will become part of a skilled trade's team responsible for campus-wide facilities - operations and maintenance activities. This individual will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks associated with maintaining building HVAC, and mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.
