Flow Cytometry Technician I
Responsibilities:
* Operating and maintaining flow cytometers, including daily QC, daily/monthly cleaning, and record keeping
* Data management
* Consulting with facility researchers regarding instrument troubleshooting, panel design and data analysis
* Continuing education in new cytometry methods and facility specific protocols
* Routine laboratory tasks such as:
* General cleaning and organizing of work areas and computer stations
* Monitoring and ordering supplies
* Waste disposal/recycling
* Updating and editing of lab documents
* Responding to emails sent to the facility account
Skills Required:
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
* Shows interest in acquiring new skills
* Problem solving
* Interacts respectfully with other facility staff, facility users, and all MGB staff to respond in an appropriate and timely manner
* Remains thoughtful and calm in unexpected or stressful situations
Experience & Education Required:
* 0-3yr cytometry experience
* Requires a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience with a scientific background; Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences preferred
* Experience with both PC and MAC computer systems
* Familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Customer service experience preferred
