Position Purpose An Infectious diseases physician provides both inpatient and ambulatory consultations for diagnosis and management of infectious diseases and their sequelae. Physician must be skilled in the evaluation, host and environmental factors that predispose to disease, appropriate diagnostic testing, and treatment. Infectious disease medicine requires an extensive understanding of antimicrobial agents, antibiotic resistance, vaccines, immunobiologic agents, bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections that affect adults and how they present clinically. Physician should be familiar with the basic principles of epidemiology, transmission of infections, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control. Additionally, as an employee of Renown, Physician will be expected to educate and/or mentor medical students, nurse practitioners, and residents. # # # Nature and Scope The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician#s area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field. # # KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS # ABILITIES: Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system. 1. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules; 2.
