Position Overview: Seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead our surgical department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality surgical care, overseeing departmental operations, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the surgical services department, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
Lead and manage a team of surgical staff, including nurses, surgical techs, and support personnel.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical services.
Stay abreast of current surgical trends, techniques, and management principles to ensure the department is up-to-date with industry advancements.
Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes and interdepartmental coordination.
Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staffing requirements.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) or equivalent degree, required.
Experience: Progressive clinical nursing experience of at least five years, including previous management experience as a head nurse, nursing supervisor, or in an equivalent role within the surgical services department, preferred.
Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of hire.
Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is desired.
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of current surgical services trends, techniques, and principles of management.
