Responsible for the all activities related to the collection functions

*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

● Completes Aging By Carrier report two times per month.

● Works appeal with-in 24 hours of receipt of notification.

● Calls insurance companies to determine status on all accounts more than 45 days old, or as determined by state prompt-payment regulations

● Sends any necessary copies of supporting documentation required by insurance companies within 24 hours.

● Notes contact with insurance company in Oasis.

● Checks with patient biller to determine whether any special payment arrangements exist.

● Makes telephone or letter contact with all patients with balances more than 45 days old with no payment.

● Notes contact with patient in Oasis

● Submits any new payment arrangements to business office manager for approval.

● For patient account balances of more than 90 days, with no payment, advises business office manager, who will determine whether account is to be turned over for collection.

● Sends approved accounts to collection agency.

● If it is determined that a refund is due to the insurance company, completes refund-request form with supporting documentation, copy of EOB, etc to Business Office Manager.

● Participates in Quality Assurance activities.

*QUALIFICATIONS*

· High School diploma or equivalent required

· One year collections experience in an ASC or physician’s office

· Good typing, communication, and computer skills

· Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

· Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/ or equipment up to 50 lbs.

*Personal Qualifications: *Must exhibit courteous communication skills and the ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in the performance of job duties. Presents self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
