Boyd Metals, headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas was founded in 1991 and currently has five locations in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. We are part of the Russel Metals family of companies. We are seeking an experienced Credit Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the credit granting process, managing the credit department, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

The Credit Manager must make independent decisions while negotiating with customers in a manner that supports company goals while mitigating risk. The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external customers. Qualified applicants must display a positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Duties and Responsibilities*
* Administer and adhere to credit and collection policies and procedures
* Interface with local management and sales teams within the organization to communicate credit decisions and ensure timely review of new customers
* Liaise with sales and service management on customer credit issues, credit holds, etc., to quickly resolve issues
* Assess credit worthiness of all new customers utilizing financial analysis tools, industry data, and other credit assessment sources
* Establish prudent credit limits for new customers and adjust limits for existing customers based on changing conditions
* Negotiate and approve payment terms, including non-standard terms when requested in line with management policies
* Manage the credit staff and monitor daily activities by meeting regularly to discuss job progress and address any issues
* Monitor AR for past due accounts and potential losses and determine if an account should be sent to collections / attorneys if internal efforts are unsuccessful
* Establish appropriate reserves for potential bad debt and make the decision to write off the credit if uncollectable
* Open and maintain new customer master data
* Establish and regularly review credit limits/terms for customers
* As necessary, contact banks, trade and credit references, sales, and others to obtain necessary credit information
* Establish and maintain solid customer relationships by resolving their credit issues as appropriate
* Maintain certificates and assist with preparation of sales tax audits
* Ability to multitask, effectively work independently and in a team environment
* Prepare reports on the credit department's performance

*Experience Required:*
* 5+ years experience in accounting and/or credit; 5+years management experience
* Must have experience in account analysis and credit analysis and collection practices
* Bachelors degree preferred
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills required
* Occasional overnight travel required

*Preferred:*
* 5+ years experience in a B2B credit environment
* Previous experience in a similar role handling credit management duties
