Collegiate Hotel Group® is seeking a Task Force Controller. The Task Force Controller is responsible for serving as the acting Controller at the assigned hotel during vacancies or leave. When not assigned to a specific property, the Task Force Controller will provide support to the company on various projects and/or other assignments.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume the responsibilities of the Property Controller when the position is vacant, when the Controller is on leave, or when a hotel property needs additional financial support.
  • Serve as the temporary on-property financial leader.
  • Provide support to departmental managers and the general manager with financial management including bi-weekly forecasting.
  • Review daily income journal for accuracy, reconciliation of daily cash and credit card deposits and ensuring the Guest, City and Advance Deposit ledgers balance to the general ledger
  • Manage the accounts receivable functions, ensuring the accounts are in good standing.
  • Run accounting platforms with an emphasis on the purchase order and accounting systems
  • Process credit card and cash deposits in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reconcile daily sales and lodging taxes collected.
  • Provide the General Manager with timely and accurate data and financial reports.
  • Train new Associates on procedures, auditing, cash controls, payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other related duties based on existing policies.
  • Perform the role as principal hotel financial training resource for the General Managers and other team members on accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Conduct monthly financial reviews with General Managers.
  • Perform field operational internal control audits on a regular basis to track SOP Compliance.
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures, internal controls, and safeguards for property assets
  • Work with on-boarding and off-boarding teams for smooth transitions.
  • Participate in the budget process.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Accounting/Finance or Business Education
  • 3+ years of accounting experience preferred, preferably in a hotel environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of the accounts payable, income audit, and general ledger reconciliation functions required.
  • Proficiency in ProfitSword, PMS interface system, POS Interfaces preferred.
  • Proficiency in hotel Property Management systems (Infor) and POS systems (Toast, Digital Dining) required
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel, and other related accounting and finance applications.
  • Extremely organizational with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
  • The role requires an on-property presence. Ability to travel not less than 50% of the time is expected.
