Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position is accountable for directing and controlling the processes and procedures related to the day-to-day operations of various accounting functions (i.e., fixed assets, capitalization, lease accounting, account reconciliations, etc.). It is also responsible for the management and preparation of the Company's annual audited financial statements and serves as a technical US GAAP expert for the company.

This role requires 4 days in office and 1 day remote.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a US GAAP expert. Initiate research efforts on US GAAP/technical accounting matters, including implementation of new standards and application of GAAP principles to unusual or infrequent transactions, identify the impact to the Company and develop and propose to management recommended actions to take.
  • Oversee the coordination of the annual audit with external auditors and various SMI teammates, as applicable. Prepare annual audited financial statements and related audit reports. Review and provide input as needed for quarterly financial statements and related footnote disclosures.
  • Prepare routine financial planning, analysis and forecasting functions for areas of accountability. Oversee, analyze and consolidate financial forecast updates on a biweekly basis for all business units.
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations of direct reports.
  • Train, develop and mentor direct reports to ensure they are challenged and meet their full potential
  • Analyze and provide explanations for certain income statement line items on a period/quarterly basis and complete various closing responsibilities.
  • Serve as the company's expert on Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) modules. Implement new features within the EPM modules. Maintain the functionality and ensure overall compliance related to period account reconciliations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Other Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, with Master's in Accountancy or MBA preferred. Must be a Certified Public Accountant.
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 to 8 years
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge
    • Extensive knowledge about US GAAP and the ability to research and reach well-reasoned conclusions on technical accounting matters.
    • Working knowledge of routine and non-routine accounting processes and the requirements for recording transactions in accordance with US GAAP and in a manner that creates/maintains an effective internal control environment
    • Technology proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
    • PeopleSoft general ledger and nVision reporting knowledge is a plus.
