Role and Responsibilities: 
  • We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Assistant Janitorial Project Manager to assistant in the oversight of the daily operations of our janitorial contract at NGA West, St Louis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a custodial team, including individuals with disabilities, ensuring high-quality cleaning services, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist with the oversight of a custodial team, which includes individuals with disabilities, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Supervise and manage a small crew of Custodial Workers, including conducting performance evaluations, approving leave requests, and recommending disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff to ensure they perform their duties effectively, providing excellent customer service and operational efficiency.
  • Recruit, hire, and train new custodial team members as needed.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor daily work assignments for the custodial staff.
  • Manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, including during afterhours or weekends for emergencies and special cleaning tasks.
  • Ensure custodial operations meet company standards and customer expectations, maintaining high levels of cleanliness and safety.
  • Participate in all phases of custodial work, from cleaning to inspections.
  • Inspect the work of custodial staff regularly, both in progress and upon completion, to ensure it meets quality standards.
  • Identify and report any building repairs or maintenance issues.
  • Order and maintain appropriate tools, equipment, cleaning supplies, and materials necessary for custodial operations.
  • Keep accurate records of inventory and requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Track and maintain accurate attendance records for the custodial team.
  • Make necessary adjustments to payroll, ensuring that all hours are correctly reported and compensated.
Emergency Response and After-Hours Support:
  • Be available for after-hours or weekend calls to ensure building cleaning coverage, respond to blood pathogen      cleanups, and assist with flood-related emergencies.
  • Use a company-provided mobile phone to receive and respond to after-hours calls.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, ensuring the security and confidentiality of documents and data.
  • Prepare and maintain activity reports and documentation related to custodial operations, including attendance, inventory, and incident reports.
  • May occasionally assist the night cleaning team or serve as a backup in the absence of night supervisors at the Youth Center or Children Development Day Care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements: 
  • Minimum of (1) years supervisory experience. (Preferred) 
  • Minimum of (1) years Janitorial experience. (Preferred) 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of how to effectively schedule workers. 
  • Familiarity with Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Excel. 
  • Ability to organize and establish work processes 
Physical Demands: 
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as cleaning supplies (up to 50 pounds). 
  • Spend long hours standing and walking during cleaning tasks. 
  • Frequently bend, kneel, and crouch to clean floors, surfaces, and restrooms. 
  • Perform repetitive tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing. 
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required for operating cleaning equipment and tools. 
Environmental Demands:  
  • Work in various environments, including offices, restrooms, and outdoor areas. 
  • Possible exposure to heat, cold, rain, or snow while performing outdoor tasks. 
  • Use of cleaning chemicals; must follow safety guidelines. 
  • Exposure to noise from cleaning equipment and machinery.
