Candidates from such groups, such as people of color and LGBTQ people, who meet the minimum application requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements for Fellowship Applicants:
  • Completion of master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling from an accredited program.
  • Will have LMSW or limited permit in place when starting.
  • Must be willing to commit to two years. Any applicants who will be completing their clinical hours within a year will not be considered.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time position, with a mix of in-person, evening, and/or weekend availability (2 out of 3). 
  • Ability to commit to individual and group supervision, periodic didactic trainings, and regular in-service trainings. All trainings occur on Thursday mornings before noon. Individual supervision times are arranged between you and your supervisor. You must be available on Thursdays between 9am - 12pm for optional and mandatory trainings and meetings.

Preferred:
  • Demonstrate basic skills, aptitude, and experience in providing individual, family, and/or group therapy.
  • Experience and/or interest in specializing in areas fitting with KIP’s mission, especially specific experience with LGBTQ+ clients and an interest in trauma-informed and psychodynamic therapy.
  • Interest in pursuing a career as a psychotherapist and becoming a part of the KIP community (teach, supervise, attend meetings) after licensure.

Compensation:
Unlike other psychotherapy training programs of Kip's caliber in New York City, Kip's therapists have access to regular training, individual and group supervision, peer support, in-service trainings, and didactic offerings at no cost. We offer unique opportunities to grow within the organization. Full-time positions require approximately 28 sessions per week ($60-$65k) with a generous benefit package (PTO, health insurance) and options for performance based bonuses.
