Reports to: Supervising Chef/Food Services Manager
Classification: Non-exempt
Compensation: $27.00/ hour
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday (specific hours TBD)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a certified and experienced Cook to join our culinary team at the Dr. Sushma D. Taylor Recovery Center. Under the supervision of the Supervising Chef/Food Services Manager, the Certified Cook will prepare nutritious meals for our residential clients, ensuring adherence to dietary requirements and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
Essential Duties:
  • Prepare meals for approximately 50 residents and staff.
  • Prepare modified diet items as needed.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, and dining area.
  • Assist in daily clean-up and weekly deep cleaning activities.
  • Collaborate with the Supervising Chef/Food Services Manager to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in food service or related field.
  • Must possess valid culinary or food safety certifications (e.g., CFPP, CFSM, CEC, CC, ServSafe).
  • Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to maintain a clear, understandable speaking voice.
  • Accurate and clear vision and hearing.
  • Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
  • Sufficient digital manipulation skills to utilize a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to function effectively in a busy working environment.
