Supervising Chef/ Food Services Manager

Job Summary:
The Supervising Chef will be responsible for supervision and will participate in the planning, preparation, and serving of meals for residential clients, ensuring nutritional balance and adherence to dietary requirements. As we prepare for our official opening in November, the successful candidate will also assist the Program Director/Manager in hiring a certified cook for the kitchen.

Schedules:
- Full-time, Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week.
- Part-time, late afternoon through early evening, Monday - Friday.
Essential Duties:
Food Services Operations:
- Plan, prepare, and cook meals for approximately 50 residents and staff.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff and residents in food preparation and safety procedures.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, and dining area.
- Inspect daily clean-up and weekly deep cleaning activities.
- Prepare modified diet items as needed.
Menu Planning and Budgeting:
- Develop weekly menus based on nutritional guidelines and budget constraints.
- Incorporate fresh produce from local sources into menu planning.
- Minimize food waste and optimize resource utilization.
Supervision and Training:
- Supervise kitchen staff and residents, providing guidance and support.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and residents.
- Train staff and residents on food safety, preparation, and presentation.
Teamwork and Communication:
- Collaborate with treatment team to accommodate dietary needs.
- Maintain open communication with staff, residents, and management.
- Respond promptly to requests and concerns.
Special Project: Hiring Certified Cook:
- Assist Program Director/Manager in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring a certified cook for the kitchen.
- Participate in the onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in food service management or related field.
- Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Current food safety certification
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to maintain a clear, understandable speaking voice.
- Accurate and clear vision and hearing.
- Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
- Sufficient digital manipulation skills to utilize a computer keyboard.
- Ability to function effectively in a busy working environment.
