Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence (BBBSI) is the largest BBBS agency in the state and fourth largest in the nation. This program focuses on improving school performance, attendance, and overall well-being, fostering a supportive environment within the school setting.Community-Based Program: The Community-Based Program offers flexibility and variety, with Bigs and Littles meeting outside of school hours for activities that can include anything from going to the park, working on homework, to simply spending quality time together. This program is designed to build self-esteem, enhance interpersonal skills, and encourage positive life choices through shared experiences.We're currently hiring for several key positions that will support and grow our programs:
Program CoordinatorAs a Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our mentoring programs. Your role includes coordinating activities, managing relationships with schools and community partners, and ensuring that the program's goals are met. You'll work closely with mentors, mentees, and families to provide guidance and support, ensuring a successful and impactful experience for all involved. 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • 1Provide match support at schools and college locations to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the part of volunteers. 
  • Facilitate monthly match activities for mentors and mentees, delivering impactful activities to enhance match relationships and develop strong partnerships at the school site.
  • With the assistance of school liaisons, enroll youth with proper paperwork and conduct volunteer and youth assessments/updates as trained.
  • Work in collaboration with Enrollment team(s) to make matches according to assessments and recommendations from the Intake process. 
  • Build relationships with schools through coordination with teachers, principals, and counselors. Act as liaison with site-based contacts to ensure effective implementation of program and coordination of all site-specific needs
  • Enrollment and Match Support Specialist:
  • In the role of Enrollment and Match Support Specialist, you'll be the key contact for our Bigs and Littles. This position involves recruiting, interviewing, and enrolling volunteers and youth into our programs. Additionally, you will provide ongoing support to ensure successful and enduring matches between Bigs and Littles. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships will be critical to the success of our mentoring matches.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts volunteer interviews, writes assessments, and works with the team to complete each step of the enrollment process.
  • Maintains accurate volunteer records in an online database.
  • Fingerprints potential volunteers for FBI clearances.
  • Applies child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures to all aspects of job. 
  • Academic/Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience or Associates Degree and 2 years relevant experience or Bachelors Degree.

Preferred Skills and Professional Requirements Based on Position:
  • Experience with recruitment, public speaking, assessment, intake and interview experience is required. Experience in human services, with youth service organizations and socioeconomically diverse populations is preferred. Must possess the ability to effectively utilize BBBSI’s internal database systems for tracking and recording information.· Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills, specifically working with youth.
  • Ability to work autonomously with drive, enthusiasm, and flexibility to go along with a willingness to work as needed to accomplish job requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/Case Management packages required (Salesforce preferred).
  • Flexible to accommodate job responsibilities (including ability to work evenings/weekends as required).
 Work Environment: This position will be based out of the agency office or an assigned school in the Philadelphia School District. Attendance at the BBBSI headquarters will be required when school is not in session and as needed. Regular hours will be Monday through Friday, aligning with the school hours. Ability to commute to school site and BBBSI offices 5 days a week is required.COVID-19 vaccinations or medical/religious exemptions are required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: the ability to work independently; remain sedentary for extended periods of time (6+ hours per day); lift 10-15lbs; push, pull, bend kneel, as needed for normal operations.
