Mechanical Assembly Technician:
CMM, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our team located in South Bend, Indiana. Candidate must be capable of building mechanical machine components per print, installing sub assemblies, verifying mechanical functions, and final machine set-up. Must be able to read blueprints, and work with electrical and hydraulic technicians through completion of the machine build process. Domestic travel required for post machine build installation and service at customer’s site. Competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package offered.

Job Descriptions:
  • May communicate with machine designers during conceptualization and development of project details.
  • Work directly with engineering to assure a smooth assembly process.
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints, Solid works models, Cad drawings, or specifications manuals to plan assembly or building operations.
  • Accurately measure and layout floor plans of machine.
  • Layout, drill, ream, tap, or cut parts for assembly as needed.
  • Verify conformance of parts using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, ruler, or micrometers.
  • Position or align components for assembly, manually or using lifts.
  • Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Inspects and tests assemblies for conformance to specifications.
  • Exercise your assembly debug skills to aid in correcting problems that arise during the assembly process.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical problems on mechanical sub-assemblies and the main machine assembly.
  • Lead the teardown and ship prep process for assigned projects.
  • Communicates with customers as needed.
  • Must be able to back up trailers.
  • Safely completes assigned tasks in an efficient manner using proper methods and safety equipment.
  • Openly participates in the sharing of information and knowledge as needed. 
Qualifications:
  • HS degree or equivalent; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience in a production setting preferred.
  • Basic computer / Math skills.
  • Ability to lift 35-40 lbs. Occasionally lift, carry and move up to 75-100 lbs.
