A leading manufacturer in the food sector is searching for an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Manager to join their Louisville, KY leadership team. The HR Manager will manage a HR Generalist, report to an offsite corporate VP of HR, work closely with local leadership, and partner with other Site HR Managers in the U.S.  The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions at the Louisville facility, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive relationship with the unionized workforce. Experience in a complex manufacturing environment is required. Union experience is preferred (or candidate must have the desire to learn and have experience in a structured environment).   • Work closely with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Promote positive employee relations, “walk the floor”, and investigate employee concerns.
  • Develop training materials and performance management programs in partnership with other site HR teams.
  • Manage employee data, provide decision support through HR metrics, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Locally manage benefits program, compliance and government reporting requirements.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process and develop action plans to drive retention/engagement.
  • Oversee workplace investigations, disciplinary actions including terminations, and ensure consistency in the application of policies to resolve conflict.
  • Manage labor relations communications between union, management, and employees.
  • Assist in the training and development of line management in the application and administration of the labor agreement.
  • Nurture a positive and safety focused work environment.
 Highlighted Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  •  7+ years’ experience as an HR Manager in a complex manufacturing environment (union preferred).
  • Ability to work within a matrix environment and with HR Managers at other locations.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  •  Extensive HRIS and Excel experience will be needed.
  • Build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
  • Motivated; self-directed individual.
