Bridgeways is seeking a Clubhouse Peer Specialist for the Bridgeways Clubhouse. This is an extremely rewarding position where you can directly help people struggling for stability and consistency in their lives.
Type & Pay: Full-time, non-exempt, paid biweekly. Wage range from $22.77 - $25.00 per hour, DOE.

Summary:

The Clubhouse Peer Specialist provides support to adults living with mental health challenges in a clubhouse model program. The responsibilities include sharing in the operation of Clubhouse's programs including the work ordered day, social/recreational program, employment programs and education programs.
Primary Responsibilities for Clubhouse Peer Specialist
  • Member Engagement:
    • Interact with clubhouse members. Offer a positive and supportive relationship that fosters a sense of belonging and community that helps promote hope, choice, wellness and recovery for participants.
    • Organizing activities, and active listening to clubhouse members dealing with mental health issues while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
    • Work side by side with the members of Bridgeways Clubhouse in program areas of work ordered day (within assigned unit such as Hospitality (kitchen) or Business), social/recreational, education, employment (Transitional and Supported), advocacy, and member supports.
    • Consistently fulfills the "primary responsibility" of helping members experience being needed and actively reaches out to each member to establish productive partnership
    • Facilitate assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner maximizing members’ skills, talents, engagement and leadership
    • Ensure that performance of job duties actively reflects and promotes the Standards for Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation as developed by the Clubhouse International
  • Resources and Community Integration:
    • Assist members in locating and participating in community activities, volunteer work, social events outside the clubhouse, appropriate mental health services, community resources, and social services as needed.
    • Provide education and resources that support illness self-management, self-determination, self-advocacy, and shared-health-care decision making.
  • Advocacy and Collaboration:
    • Provide assistance in identifying and linking to community-based services and supports (primary care, mental health and or substance abuse treatment, housing, financial benefits, etc.)
    • Help with identifying and/or re-engaging with family, friends, and other natural supports
    • Provide and model advocacy to ensure access to service for the member where/when needed.
  • Safety and Crisis Intervention:
    • Be prepared to respond to crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of clubhouse members, and follow established protocols utilizing de-escalation and other training as assigned.
    • Keep supervisor informed on a timely basis of member routine/emergency/crisis needs developing, the proposed or actual response to these needs and/or barriers to, or gaps in needed services
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Assist in administrative duties, including record-keeping, documentation, scheduling, and maintaining clubhouse resources and supplies.
    • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate and performed within specified time frames.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE required for Clubhouse Peer Specialist:
  • Prefer two year's experience working in a Clubhouse program or a social service agency, particularly with adults with chronic and persistent mental illness
  • Prefer prior training in Trauma Informed Care

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • Must be able to practice empathetic listening, humility, curiosity, and self-awareness and be able to work collaboratively with people with varied personalities, disabilities, cultures, and interests while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Bilingual ability may be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public is very important.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient with PC including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams.
  • Ability to learn and utilize electronic medical records for confidential and safe record-keeping of information that conforms to agency requirements.
  • Ability to efficiently manage one’s daily, weekly and monthly work schedule including in-office sessions and travel to out-of-office appointments, meetings, etc. to meet or exceed productivity standards and caseload needs.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the individual.
  • Able to work as an effective team member.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must be able to pass Background and OIG check. Convictions will not automatically disqualify you from employment with Bridgeways. We will consider the particular circumstances of each case and any additional information that can be provided.
  • Washington State Peer Certification or an individual with lived experience and the ability to obtain certification within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Washington State Drivers License, access to a vehicle, and automobile insurance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
